Final Fantasy XII (PS2) Specifications

The UK has always had a very unique taste in games, never comparable exactly to either the U.S. or Europe. As such, Japanese role-playing games have never been very successful here, even such worldwide blockbusters as the Final Fantasy series. No matter how fancy the graphics, most Britons just can’t be having with the tedious, randomly initiated, turn-based combat. So it’s a bit of a shock to find that Square Enix has finally come around to our way of thinking, because this game completely ditches the usual battle system for a semi-automatic design that actually has you looking forwards to fights rather than dreading them. Although you can still take manual control of a character the game invites you to set-up a series of tactics and rules for your allies before a fight, so you only have to intercede directly in combat if something goes wrong.

Character customisation is also much less regimented than before and the storyline has none of the teen angst emoting that made previous games so hard to stomach for some. In fact the only major feature remaining from the other games is the stunning graphics (and they really are stunning too – probably the best ever seen on the PlayStation 2). So thorough has Square Enix been in revamping and refining every aspect of the series’ formula that the only people not likely to enjoy it are die hard fans of the originals. Other than that the only real criticism you could level against it is that it doesn’t exactly rival Wii Sports in the accessibility stakes, but with a game of this length and depth that’s a small price to pay.

EyePet is a great, interactive game made for young kids. I have really enjoyed it throughout with all the games you can play with your pet.
You can take memorable photos of your pet, and videos of the funny things it does. Also as the game progresses you can open up all different sorts of clothes and accessories you can add to your pet. Your pet doesn't seem to look like an actual pet at all, a cats body merged with a monkeys face, and a lemurs tale attached, but still it is very cute! You will be guided through with a professor kind of guy, and occasionally he will give you a note book to draw new things such as cars, planes and even robots! If you're lucky more toys!

Mind you, it's a bit iffy getting it started with the drawings, because, you have to draw it yourself, so make sure you have a pad of paper with you, you have to make sure your drawing isn't too big, and will fit in the screen, and make sure the lighting is okay so that the camera can sense your drawing. When it reads you EyePet will actually mimic your drawing and bring them to life, and you actually use them during the games.

Also included in the game is a card, it is very essential to the game as it is how you wash your pet, feed it and much more. The packaging is very nicely presented, it comes in a small box that features in the game from time to time, including a camera with a microphone (you can also use it for video chat) a game car and the actual game it's self. The camera is adjustable, depending on how big you room is, just remember to keep it facing the ground because that's where your pet likes to play. It is also useable with the PS3 Move which is a bonus.

Over all I really enjoyed it, takes a few days getting use to but once you do you will have hours of fun all the way.

PS I think it's easier than having a real pet, this one doesn't bite!

Tekken 3 - Platinum (PS) Review

Despite what Namco developers say, there really hasn't been much improvement made in the Tekken system since Tekken 3. While newer installments have better graphics and more characters, the third perfected the form that two helped define. Notice how I fail to mention the stepping stone of the original? That's because its awful to look at, awful to play, awful to think about and awful to bring up in the bedroom or at a funeral. None of the newest characters are as interesting, popular or fun to play as Hwoarang, Xiaoyu or Jin Kazama were back in the day. Both options for the music are excellent, the endings are great, the game is funny as hell and the story is the best in years. Tekken 3 really excels in contemporising the series. While 1 and 2 were quite rooted in mythology while being set in the modern day, this game really takes things into the now (well, the now of a decade ago!) in terms of backgrounds and the rock/techno soundtrack, much more consistently effective than the OTT Euro-dance of previous installments. The inclusion of Tekken Force helps Tekken 3 stand out from the crowd as well. The inclusion of a scroller WITHIN an arcade fighter is another reason why this game was so fresh. Later installments of Force were never as good (or as grippingly obsessive) and where did we end up? Death By Degrees. And don't get me started on how brilliant Tekken Ball is.

I find Tekken Tag Tournament to be a good successor to this game, even if its essentially the Mortal Kombat Trilogy of Tekken; better graphics, complete roster, nothing new in terms of gameplay. Tekken 3 is for my money, the best straightforward beat em up ever made, and although I'm not fond of saying such things, it's impact can still be felt today. While it may not have the depth of its sister franchise (Soul Blade and Calibur), its as perfect as a non-weapon fighter can get.

Tekken 3 - Platinum (PS) Overview

A near arcade-perfect conversion of one of the best fighting games of all time, Tekken 3 is an essential PlayStation title that belongs in every gamer's library. While the one-on-one combat here is essentially two-dimensional, highly detailed 3-D character graphics and a roaming camera viewpoint give this game a distinctive 3-D look. Gameplay is fast and furious, with simple controls that are easy to learn. This game also allows for special moves and combos to be executed with relative ease. Various modes of play are available, including "Tekken Force", a one-player side-scrolling brawler.

Chock full of goodies--most of which remain hidden until certain requirements are met--Tekken 3 rewards players' persistent endeavours with secret characters, alternate costumes, and yet another mode of play, Tekken ball, a bizarre variation on volleyball. Also, beating the game's arcade mode allows players to view a beautifully animated epilogue that is specific to the individual fighter used. Sports Champions - Move Compatible (PS3) Review

Purchased this game at the same time as the move starter pack and an additional move controller, quite an investment I know but for the cost of a meal and a few drinks in the local I thought why not!

The game as a whole knocks the socks off any wii games I've played, the controllers are great to use and responsive and the set up easy. All the games have a set of characters you can choose from (about 12 I think) and Bronze, Silver and Gold level cups to unlock and compete for. Feedback on the individual games would be as follows:

Archery: Brilliant fun with one or two controllers and likewise for one or two players, a pleasurable mix of challenges can keep you amused for a good long while which you'll want to return and do again, good accuracy with a steady hand and quite tiring for your strong arm!

Bocce: Couldn't quite get the hang of this Boules/lawn bowls game so went back to what I was enjoying (archery and gladiator)

Gladiator: My favourite, awesome using 2 controllers, one as your weapon and one as shield, you can ram your opponent with the shield to stun them and then slice and dice, very energetic so as a bit of a fitness freak I wanted to see how many calories I burned so wore my heart monitor whilst playing once, 600 calories an hour fighting an AI character in your living room is better than sitting on your sofa watching TV on a dark wet autumn eve!

Beach Volley Ball: Fairly simple but again energetic, make sure your not playing near a ceiling light... ooops.

Table tennis: Once you relax and try not to compare how real or unreal it is its good fun, I found it hard to master.

Disc Golf: Great chilled out fun that's pretty realistic with how the frisbee responds! Fly it over and around obstacles like a golf course (as the name suggests), very enjoyable.

All of the above are good fun to play with friends and family no matter how old or young, would recommend for an xmas present, maybe burn off some of those celebrations...

I look forward to what the future brings for the move compatible games industry, I think this is just the beginning.

Wii Chess (Wii) Review

Wii Chess is a game which lets you play chess up to 10 different levels.
Effortless 1 to almost impossible 10.
This fantastic game also lets you connect to Nintendo Wi-Fi which enables you to play with other people online.
You can find a matched opponent which takes long or anyone which sometimes take long.
Not many people are ever online, you do get the odd 1 or 2 but this is more of playing the computer game and of course you can also play 2 player against each other.
There is also a nice way of choosing Black or White in this game.
Against the computer you can choose random to do this and a pawn will come up onto your screen and flash black and white really fast and then it stops, you might have to press A.
For 2 players I haven't tried but this is probably random to make it fair.
When you are playing a match there is also calm music playing in the background but on the Wii Chess menu there is nice lively music.

Overall this is a fun game for all ages but I recommend you have an adult with you to help you play chess; you can't go wrong with the coloured squares which determine where you can go.

I would recommend buying this game.
